Pierre

Many of you have asked, how's Pierre doing with all the change? He pretty much walks around the house with a confused look on his face, wondering what all the new smells and sounds are. He's cautiously interested in James, but really keeps his distance. Although he has been known to come barking when James is crying - our own four-legged baby monitor!

Going to the Doctor

On Monday, James had his first doctor's appointment. We packed up all the gear and headed out to see how the little man was doing. He's got a bit of weight to gain (and Mom has a bit to lose) but all in all he's doing very well.

Two days later, he'd already gained four ounces which is a tremendous success! We are almost back to birth weight, a big milestone! Almost makes feeding him every 2 hours worth it.

Coming Home

On September 21 we were released from the hospital and it was time for James to try the outside world for himself. With a little help from Coco and "Dave" our grandparents, we got ready, got into to the car seat first the first time and came home. All went well on the trip.

The CHAIR

Dad stayed each long night in the hospital. While Mom got the bed, he enjoyed he comforts of Sibley's "sleeping chair" or as it came to be known "the bed of rocks." While it was worth it, he claims his back will never be the same.

James David Gentles is Here!

On September 17th, after 9 hours of Pictocin, labor, one failed epidural (this "never" happens) and one that worked, James David Gentles arrived at 4:30 pm via emergency c-section. In preparation for the birth I watched about 45 hours of Discovery Health's "Special Delivery" - and it helped! Both Sandy and I were able to remain quite calm throughout the "stats" and "go go gos" in fact, one of the doctors who was taking care of us asked me if I was in the healthcare field I was so calm. I am sure many of you are having a laugh over this one.

It was all so worth it, Baby James was happy, healthy and beautiful, weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces and 201/2 inches long. We are so happy to have him here, he's adorable!

On Our Way to the Hospital

On September 16th I went into the hospital to start the induction process. Apparently Baby Gentles was plenty happy on the inside and in no rush to arrive. I was a bit nervous and so sad to say goodbye to Pierre who had no idea how much life was about to change!
