Happy (Belated) Five Month Birthday James!

Long Weekend

Monday was a holiday, so we decided to take James down to the Air and Space Museum for some "out of the house by not outside" fun. We used the amazing James backpack - a must-have for babies and had a great time.

Finally...

Everyday for the last two months I have been working to help James raise his head up when he's on his stomach. He hated it. He would grind his face into the ground and make all these miserable noises. And then suddenly last week, pop, there he was, neck up, looking around, happy as ever!

Visit to Coco and Dave

I'm a little bit behind on my posts, having returned to work last week. So here are a few new photos of James from a variety of activities.

First, two weekends ago, James and I headed to Baltimore for a visit with Coco and Dave while Sandy was in Vail. We had a great time as always. James practiced his eating skills (sitting in my old high chair) and hung out with all the family.

Visiting great grandma

We loved this photo - his bib looks like an ascot - so formal!

James has really gotten into his feet lately. He loves to lay on his back, grab his feet and stretch them up to his head. If he's feeling particularly flexible, he can get his toes in his mouth - a new treat.

Laughter

James has discovered his laugh - and he loves to use it - much to our delight. Coaxing it out is a bit of a challenge, but Sandy's "yack yack" does it every time!

Sunny Sunday

On Sunday, it was 60 degrees here, a much needed change from snowy and cold weather. Sandy and James took advantage of the weather and our new backpack baby system (thanks Patrick Morris family!) to have their first of many trips to the National Zoo to see the pandas and other fun animals. James loved it!

Yum!

We've started James on baby oatmeal, which is prety much formula with some flakes floating around in there. I wouldn't exactly say that he likes it, or that it really goes down, but it sure is cute to watch!

All Business

These days, James can always be found in his exersaucer. He's busy learning to stand up and he even take his calls there. Here he is talking to Yaya.

Sitting Up?

So James is starting to like being "upright" more. Although he's made some great progress, he still can only hold his position for a few moments before toppling over. It sort of happens in slow motion and he's so confused - like - how did I end up on this floor again?

Back in my comfort zone.
